Service Description

This class is a blissful combination of Sound Healing and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) What is a Sound Journey? You are taken on a journey into the depths of your consciousness with the help of sound! I use different instruments, creating different sounds, frequencies and vibrations to help improve mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Sound creates vibrations in the body that activate the parasympathetic nervous system - the part of our nervous system responsible for proper rest, rejuvenation and healthy digestion. It slows down the breath and the heart rate, and it brings us to a state that feels almost sleep-like. The benefits of sound therapy are numerous: it can lessen chronic pain, improve sleep, reduce anger, improve blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, improve respiration, help with migraines, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. The instruments used in these classes will be a set of seven Tibetan singing bowls, koshi chimes and rain sticks. The frequencies and vibrations of the bowls align with the seven main physical and energetic centres of the body. Played as a set, they work to remove blockages and rebalance our bodies and our minds. You will leave the class feeling rested and relaxed, with a mind that is calm and quiet. What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga Nidra, also sometimes referred to as yogic sleep is a deep guided meditation practice. This meditation brings us to a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. It helps us turn inward, relaxes the mind and the body. Why practice them together? Sound and Yoga Nidra complement each other beautifully. They both intend to bring us to the a very relaxed states of consciousness: Theta and Alpha. They release tension in the body and open the mind, reset and release stagnant energy. I will get you started with a dreamy yoga Nidra meditation to help you relax your body. We then drift off into the sounds. During the session you will be asked to lie down to receive the sound healing and Yoga Nidra. Please dress in comfortable, loose clothing, and bring layers. Blankets, blocks and bolsters are available at the studio to ensure your comfort throughout the class. Contraindications: Those with epilepsy, mental implants (knee and hip replacements are okay), and who had recent surgery should avoid singing bowl therapy. Pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they can attend.
